Hello Santosh, This is Sheetal....a new member on your site. I am a Pg in Finance and a Banker by profession. This site was strongly recommended to me by someone who finds your Blogs really cool....hmm.....i think the photography is even better....!! Talking about Dubai....it does have an international reputation for the cheapest and best shopping in the world, but there is more to the city.... Whether or not...a Post Grad is RIGHTLY PRICED in Dubai.... to me.....is quite a subjective question. Today in India young freshers from A Grade colleges startoff with a min package of 5 Lakhs to infinity depending on the company. On the other hand...some of them end up settling for a mere 2 lakh per anum due to scarcity of required jobs in the country. The new gen totally okays with the fact that u can earn good bucks only till ur 35 yrs old. According to me...Middleast is a great place to start off your career whether or not you are an MBA. A talented person can jump off to other developed countries after gaining expertise in his industry and there.......hes earned big bucks too....!!!! Well....True...that we indian expats have very few rights there....but then i guess every other country has its own. You work donkeys hours...but then on every 26th of the month , u dont realy feel the pain....as the money is quite worth it..!!!! Ok.....now this was my viewpoint on Dubai....!! Also wanted to let you know that ur pics of the Footprints on the Sand...and the Golden Spot are really awesome...i think they are totally wellshot...!!! havent maneged to see all of them though!!! Keep it up...!! Do reply back Warm Regards, Sheetal

Sheetal, I share your point of view. I had been in Dubai for a year and half. At that point of time, salary wise Dubai offered a potential for savings. The salaries in India were quite lower as compared to Dubai. But gradually as time went by, I found that there is a limit to what you can learn and there is little scope for you to change jobs if one is not suitable. Experience wise, you learn uptil a limit and then when you look ahead, you generally tend to see that you will become redundant after some point of time with your skills. Now a days, in India, there are lot of scope jobs and to increase your skills. You should not limit yourself to the region that you are living but explore the opportunities to work anywhere in India. First recognize what you have and try to find out companies that can offer you ... your worth. There are different industries you can work and rise both in salaries and career. Dubai ... does not offer this choice. There is no scarcity of jobs in India... but you should explore in which places they are. And when your salary grows... so your confidence. Donkey hours are concept for Indians and Chinese. You will find so many of them everywhere in the world. In Dubai... you will be reinforced with such concept... and there your skills and thought process stops. Regarding your question "Whether or not...a Post Grad is RIGHTLY PRICED in Dubai.... to me.....is quite a subjective question."If you don't know where you are going then it doesn't matter what path you take - Cheshire Cat (Alice in Wonderland)So anyone who wants to earn money, then he may take up anything. Tax Free in Income in DubaiOn face of it, it looks good. But you are never going to save enough money that you can earn in US or Singapore even though they have personal taxation. What I am stressing is how a post graduate should progress his career. My thought process is - Gain experience and education in India as you are not bound by work permit regulations. If you are able to gain qualifications recognized by develop countries, then go for it.
- Look out for companies that fulfill your aspirations both in terms of career and money. Do not limit yourselves to city that you are living. Explore.
- If you are thinking of long term career overseas, try for Australia, NZ, Canada, UK or Singapore since these countries will offer you live permanently. You may observe that when you expect that you will live in place for long time, you will tend to invest in yourself, your house and start thinking where you want yourself to be 5 years from now. Dubai is not the place where you can think. Your mind always revolves around, when you are going to pack your bags.
These are just my thoughts. I hated to live in Dubai and never thought it would be place where I could live for more than 2 years when I landed. Singapore ... it is one of best places to live. You learn a lot ... look at the way their govt. department functions....business functions..... they treat everyone equal... and You love working in Singapore.
